it. Independent testing consistently shows the long-term difference
between fast and slow charging is small — far smaller than the effect of
heat or how the phone is stored and used day to day. The one real
caveat: use the manufacturer’s charger or a reputable certified one.

Three things do the heavy lifting. Heat is the big
one — a battery that regularly runs hot (charging on a sunny dashboard,

— don’t charge them under pillows, on hot dashboards, or in thick cases
that trap heat. Avoid repeatedly running devices flat. For handsets
sitting in storage between deployments, leave them at around 50% charge
rather than full or empty. Use manufacturer or certified chargers only.
And switch on “optimised” or “adaptive” charging in the phone’s settings
— it holds the battery at 80% overnight and tops up just before the
working day starts. Notice what’s not on that list: banning
fast charging. It’s the heat and the extremes that matter, not the
speed.
